Connect Marketing and Design Owner featured in NBC 17 News story

July 9, 2009. On Thursday July 9th NBC 17 in Raleigh ran a story called Better Off Laid Off, which featured none other than our own Jeff SanGeorge. In the interview Jeff discusses how his layoff early in 2008 helped push him into presuing his dream of starting his own company. "I never would have had the guts to go and try starting this on my own", said Jeff. "I have grown in ways I couldn't have imagined over the past few years".

The full story isn't posted online, but here is a link to a extra for the story,
including a (very brief) picture and mention of Jeff.

Connect Marketing and Design is excited to Announce The Winner
of the Ugliest Website Contest

June 22, 2009. Connect Marketing and Design has received submissions from all over North Carolina and votes from across the country for the Ugliest Website Contest. We held this contest not just to call attention to ugly websites, (although that part is fun!), but also to help make people aware of what makes a good, effective website. Although the look and feel of a site is important, other major factors include search engine findability, usability, and organization of information, just to name a few. All of these things work together to bring visitors to the site, keep them there until they find what they are looking for, and direct them towards your goals for the site (i.e. make a purchase, contact you, sign up for your mailing list, etc.).

Now it's time to talk about a site that has none of these things! The Ugliest Website winner is a site that took 58% of the total votes and elicited comments like "The name is catchy, but the site is lacking!" and "it's the saddest things I've ever seen!". Not only is this site ugly, but some may say it's tasteless. www.mytastynuts.com, a specialty nut roasting company is the Winner of the Ugliest Website Contest and will receive a complete site re-design with a content management system and a free P.R. package, total value for this package is over $1800.

Connect Marketing and Design Announces Ugliest Website Contest

May 21, 2009, Connect Marketing and Design announced today that it will hold the Ugliest Website Contest. The contest will be open to businesses located in North Carolina. Entries will be judged on four criteria: Overall ugliness, usability/navigation, colors and layout/presentation.
The site judged to be the worst overall will receive a Free Website Redesign Package with a Joomla content management system (CMS) built in, and a free PR package from Artisan's Press PR.

"It's not only the colors, the layout and the images that make a site ugly. Ugly sites are hard to navigate or understand, difficult to post content to, and simply don't represent your business well", said Jeff SanGeorge, Owner of Connect Marketing and Design.

Contest will begin Monday June, 1st, 2009. All entries must be received by 5pm on Monday June 15.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday June 17 in the Connect Newsletter.

Connect Marketing and Design creates “Orange Man”
website for the MS Society

March 3, 2009. Connect Marketing and Design, a Raleigh based web and graphic design company,
has designed a website for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Eastern North Carolina in order to promote National MS Awareness week, March 2-8, 2009.

www.orangeman.org was designed to provide an entertaining and informational portal for people to learn more about Multiple Sclerosis. The website contains links to register to win prizes, register for the Walk MS event, and download photos of themselves with the Orange Man, mascot. In the week that Orangeman.org has been active the site has received over 1000 visitors.

The Orange Man has been several appearances in the Triangle from Carolina Hurricanes games, to indoor skydiving, to The Streets At Southpoint raising awareness about the devastating effects of MS. “The Orange Man is the essence of movement. He symbolizes what we take for granted, which eludes those with MS. We use him as our bold statement of protest against MS’s effects on movement” said Christy Knutston, Public Relations Coordinator for the National MS Society.

Connect Marketing and Design is an independent marketing and design company specializing
in custom marketing solutions for small businesses, including graphic design, web design
and marketing services.

Connect Marketing and Design Launches "Make A Scene" Website

February 6, 2009. Make a Scene, Events Theme Props is a Triangle based business that rents
theatrical theme props for events from proms to corporate events and everything in-between.
Featuring dozens of elaborate themes including backdrops, props, and furniture, Make A Scene
can cater to the needs of just about any event.

When Make a Scene approached Connect Marketing and Design to create a website it was clear that
this distinctive and unusual company would need a distinctive and unusual website. "Our approach was
to actually construct a scene on the screen using theatre curtains as a foreground and a wooden floor
as a background", said Jeff SanGeorge, Creative Director for Connect Marketing and Design. The elements
on the screen evoke the feeling of actually being a part of a theatrical scene. This unique website also
includes a catalogue of themes and special event scenes available.

Connect Marketing and Design also created Make A Scene's identity package including their logo,
letterhead and business cards.
